Telugu News Channels' Rating race

The television viewership ratings, popularly called TRP ratings, for the Telugu news channels for the last few weeks have been surprising the media analysts, making them wonder whether there is any change in the taste of the news channel viewers, or whether there is any “hera pheri” in the rating system at all.
Take for instance, the TRP ratings being given to the Telugu new schannels by TAM Media Research India for the just concluded week were really surprising: NTV, run by Narendra Chowdary, has climbed to the top slot with 3.77 points, followed by ETV2 wit 3.42 points.
The popular news channel TV9 which was reigning supreme at the top rank all these weeks came down to the third position with 2.25 points, followed by TV5 channel with 1.84 points.
Interestingly, Sakshi news channel promoted by YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy which had once reached the no. 1 position, plunged to the sixth position with just 0.69 points and it stands only after Maha TV (1.51 points) and Zee TV (0.76 points).
ABN-Andhra Jyothy channel stands in the poor ninth position (0.48 points), behind T-News (0.64 points).
And the last and least viewed channel in the list, as per the TAM ratings, is Studio-N, now owned by Junior NTR. It has got just 0.30 points, and falls far behind I-News (0.47 points) and HMTV (0.43 points).
Though these ratings vary from week to week and from month to month, it will help the channels correct themselves and improve their programmes for a better viewership.
