Its all Kolaveri on You Tube

The frenzy that the Tamil song ‘Why this Kolaveri Di…’ has been causing needs no introduction. The best place to see that is the YouTube site and now, another angle has emerged for that. Well, many are trying to see if ‘Kolaveri Di..’ can beat the record of the other hit number ‘Charlie Bit My Finger…’.

‘Charlie bit my finger…’ was uploaded in 2007 and is currently in the mark of 39 crore hits. And ‘Kolaveri Di…’ was uploaded two weeks ago and it has already crossed the 1 crore mark. As such, the ‘Charlie bit….’ song is not seasonal, it is a live video and many parents keep showing it to their kids.

But ‘Kolaveri di…’ is for youth and that’s why the response and hits have been growing fast. While ‘Charlie…’ had no language barrier since it is English, it remains to be seen if ‘Kolaveri di..’ will cross it. The general opinion is Indians are little crazy when it comes to such songs and so their frenzy might take the song beyond ‘Charlie…’

The Telugu film market is a close second in box office revenue, recording Rs900 crore this year, expected to increase to Rs 1,380 crore by 2015.
Regional cinema’s reach and muscle were evident with big budget blockbuster films like Enthiran (Robot in Telugu version) raking in as much as Rs 200-225 crore in all languages.
Recently, Mahesh Babu’s Dookudu made news in the US for its weekend collections on par with Hollywood films in some areas.
The regional television market too is poised for a healthy growth. The regional television market, which accounts for 30 percent of the overall Indian market, is currently valued at Rs10,630 crore and will grow 17 percent in the next four years to reach Rs 19,810 crore, said the report.
Subscription revenue remains the main source of income for companies, contributing 67 percent of total television revenue in the the region. While all of the entertainment channels are subscription-based, most of the news channels are free-to-air, and hence do not make much revenues at present.

Mountain high expectations on Punjaa

Billed as gangster classic, Pawan Kalyan’s Panjaa, releasing on Dec 9, has raised lot of expectations among his fans and others alike. The film’s trailers have already received rave reviews for the technical finesse which is seen all over the teasers.
Director Vishnuvardhan, originally a Telugu, made a mark for himself in Tamil industry. Known for slick and stylish films, Vishnu is said to have achieved a rare blend of brilliant action sequences coupled with breezy romantic narration.
Pawan’s unconventional and refreshing style of stunt scenes and dancing steps are expected to be a big draw for the film in which the power star looks menacing in a beard.
Sesh Adivi, who directed his debut film Karma and also assayed the lead role in that film, is a surprise cast in Panjaa. New comers Sarah Jane and Anjali Lavania are the heroines. Music, which is already a rage, is by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
The film was to be dubbed in Tamil as Kuri since Pawan Kalyan commands a good market in Tamil Nadu. But unconfirmed reports say that Vishnuvardhan, who made Bill with Ajith earlier, wants to remake Panjaa in Tamil with Ajith as the hero.
